Summer 2022

 Mom Visit

Mom came up for several visits this summer. On this occasion we went to a few places during the central Iowa junk jaunt. Our favorite place is Lincoln View Farms! They have beautiful gardens and the kids enjoy the frogs and fish in the pond. The owner let them feed the fish!

While Mom was visiting she got fish and chips for us from a food truck she likes. She got Riley Chick Fil A because she sadly couldn't eat the fish. We also went to a few parks in the mornings before it got hot. They always miss her when she leaves.

We have enjoyed going to the pool as much as we can!

 

We continued doing some school over the summer. Math to maintain skills and science related to learning about space. In this picture we were having toast with a great deal of butter on it and reading Mercy Watson!

 

Riley and Olivia' Birthday Party

This year Riley turned 10 on May 3rd and Olivia turned 9 on July 3rd! They had a shared birthday party in Ottumwa.

 

Staycation

 We enjoyed spending time together for a staycation and did fun things around Ames. We went to see the movie Lightyear at the theater, went swimming, enjoyed dinner at Hickory Park, relaxed at home, and made tie dye t-shirts.

Park Visits

We have had regular homeschool meetup days with other families this summer and plan to continue into the school year. This is the kids playing at Ledges State Park.

They made a fun fort in the basement and like to go in there to read. I think that cat has been sleeping there as well!

Ottumwa Visit

Nora and I stayed the nights with Mom and Riley and August stayed at Aunt Stacys. Mom had made some yummy blueberry bread and she had some fantastic peaches. It made for a relaxing and delicious breakfast on the porch!
