Spring has turned into Summer

Spring Flowers
I love walking around in the garden and seeing what is blooming at the moment. Many flowers bloom for a little bit and are done until next year.  Then something else is there to enjoy!

Water beads
Our friend Emily introduced us to water beads!  The kids have had endless fun running their hands through them, bouncing them ,and color sorting them. They come very small and dry and expand in water!

 The Kids Flower Garden
Riley, August and Nora transplanting the sunflowers and marigolds they grew inside. They also started Zinnia seeds outside!

The many funny faces of August!
The others joined in too. You can see that Nora is looking at her brother and sister to see if this is what she is supposed to be doing!

Art and Play
Riley made this out of tape

Riley made this mailbox for Her and Nora's door. She also made one for August's door ,and Mom and Dads. She then named different parts of the house with street names and put up stop signs. She started to write letters mailed to the mailboxes including making up the addresses based on the street name. August helped her by being the mailman. She has enjoyed making cards to deliver and sometimes I leave her notes!
Riley is reading Ato Z mysteries to August
Riley made this out of ripped paper to make a heart

August built a lego house with a garden
They made a lego train with animals

Flowers in the garden right now
The siberian irises and peonies are blooming but it is a little too hot for them. Dianthus is blooming. Sometimes we like to may bouquets to put on the table. The tomatoes, pole beans, snap peas, eggplant, yellow squash and hot peppers are growing well in the vegetable bed. I have been loving getting to use fresh herbs again!

I thought this peony looked really dramatic on its own in a jar

The Pond at Moore Park
We went for a bike ride last week at the park and stopped to see what was alive in and around the pond there. We saw many things. Fish, turtles, and tadpoles. There were so many little tadpoles near the edge of the pond! We went back this week to see if they had gotten any bigger. They were still there and about the same size. This week we saw a bullfrog and he sure could make a loud noise!

Until next time...
