A visit to Ottumwa

These photos were taken May 11th and 12th, the weekend I went to Ottumwa to go plant shopping. Mom, Stacy, Diane, Liam, Riley and I went to 3 Amish greenhouses where I picked out the vegetables I wanted for the season and some annuals for planters. The plants are all in the ground now and thriving with the crazy amount of rain we have received lately. I have also been working to keep the rabbits out. We have a large population on Ferndale that seem to think I am running an all you can eat salad bar. I would also like to thank Jon for building the A frames for vertical gardening and getting the rain barrel all hooked up.  He and Keenan also spent a lot of time recently putting in our new kitchen floors and doing lots of other repair jobs around our home.  We are grateful to have such a wonderful family that is so generous with their time and knowledge.

Riley really enjoyed playing in the grass, picking dandelions and watching Liam run around and play.  Stacy is getting closer to her due date and doing really well.  She has been prepping a nursery area for their new little girl. Liam also had his eye surgery recently to tighten the ligaments around the eyes so they will stay straight. He is at home and doing well. We all hope that is the last surgery for a while.

Yay my own chair!

Riley's cute pink chair arrived yesterday. It was easy to put together and is just her size. This post wouldn't be fun at all though if I didn't put up a ton of photos. Thank you Grandpa and Grandma Gehman!  I think she loves it

Spring has sprung

Flowers are blooming, the snow is falling, and Riley and Piper are turning one. How exciting!  Riley and I have been enjoying the new variety of activities that are available now that it is nice out again and she is more mobile.  Playing on the swing and chasing Quinny are favorites. Keenan and I have been getting a lot of outdoor stuff done as well.  Like putting in our path in the backyard, staining the outdoor furniture, moving plants around and finally buying that composter.  I am really excited for planting season to start.  I am going plant shopping with Mom, Stacy and Diane this weekend.

Having a first birthday party was controversial in our house but I loved the idea of filling our home with family to celebrate having Riley in our lives.  She has added so much laughter and joy to our new family. Thank you to all of you that could make it and we missed the ones that couldn't. We love you all!

I think just about everyone knows that I love to cook so getting to throw a big lunch party for Riley's birthday was really fun for me!  Riley seemed to have a lot of fun opening her gifts and playing with all of the new toys.  Who doesn't love a baby with cake smeared all over their face
