The First Sounds of Life

Thanks to a wonderful Christmas present, we are now able to share that recording of the baby's heartbeat that was mentioned in our first post.
In order to capture the audio, I (Keenan) had to record a video, but since I knew Chelsea would NOT appreciate me actually recording what was happening, I pointed my phone at the ground instead.
So, without further ado, here is the video of the ground gracefully accompanied by the mesmerizing throb of our baby's heartbeat. For optimal results, you may proceed to the 13th second of the recording.

Ultrasound: The First Look

On Monday, we had our first ultrasound. It was an incredible experience - we got to watch as our baby moved around a little (although baby was napping at first). Jan, our ultrasound tech, was very friendly and helpful as she pointed out all of the growth indicators that she was looking for - working kidneys, beating heart, 10 fingers/toes, no cleft lip, etc etc - so far we have a normal, healthy baby! We did not find out the gender, so that will be a surprise when baby finally arrives.

So, enough talk ... on to the good stuff...

Apparently, baby had the hiccups during the ultrasound. Jan was able to capture a part of it.

That's all for now. Merry Christmas to those who we will not be seeing this week!

The Essence of Going Plural

Welcome to our blog.
We are very excited about the upcoming arrival of our first child. With the first ultrasound only a few days away, it's beginning to sink in very clearly that this is indeed happening.
Latest update: at the last appointment, we were able to hear a heartbeat. I was able to record this on my phone, but am having difficulty figuring out how to extract that precious little 30 seconds of electronic throbbing audio and get it posted. I'll try to make that happen though.
